Content design and UX/UI writing are the newest additions to my content practice. So I don’t have many samples to share yet. However, as a content strategist and writer, I have always relied on the kind of creative problem-solving, human-centered design thinking, big-picture perspective, and diplomacy that fuels great content design. These skills, along with my broad background as a content practitioner, have primed me to enter the field of content design.
I’m a curious and committed student of content design, attending the 2024 Button Content Design Conference and reading great books like Strategic Content Design (Erica Jorgensen) and Writing is Designing (Andy Welfle & Michael Metts).
That being said, When I’m UX/UI writing, I aim to create clear, concise, and user-centric content that guides people seamlessly through a task. I use plain language and human-centered design thinking to give users the information they need at the moment they need it.
LEAD GEN FORM
I guided the content strategy and writing efforts for the refreshed Trinity Solar website in 2024. The primary CTA across the website is to for visitors to schedule a free in-home consultation with a Solar Expert. Getting people to sit for a consultation is the #1 goal of the website, and the hero of that effort is the lead gen form. But the old lead gen form was unclear. The headline and button text didn’t provide a sense of what people were signing up for.
I updated the header to plainly state the purpose of the form, and revised the screens that follow to provide clear, reassuring guidance. Here are some sample screens from the old and new lead gen forms:
